Our Remote Learning

Dear Parents & Carers,

We are pleased to announce that we are now using Microsoft Teams - a remote schooling platform through which teachers will have the facility teach our children online.

Children will be able to log in to their virtual classroom and work through sets of learning activities organised by their teacher - a combination of self-paced activities, live teacher-led webinar activities, and assignment tasks. Teachers will assess work and provide individual encouragement and feedback, much as they would in the classroom.

We look forward to your ongoing support to help us continue delivering a quality learning experience during this difficult time. Reading through the following points will help you know what to expect, and how you can best support your child as we get started!

Virtual classrooms are accessible via any internet-connected device with a web browser, including:

  • laptop computers
  • desktop computers
  • Chromebooks
  • iPads
  • Android tablets
  • Smart televisions
  • Smartphones
  • Games consoles

For the best experience, if possible, use a device that has...

  • a reasonable size screen - sufficient to view instructions and enter text
  • a keyboard or means through which children can easily write text
  • a camera and microphone, although this is not essential.

Recommended web browsers are Chrome, Firefox or Edge. Internet Explorer is not supported.

Learning activities will be listed in the activity navigation pane on the left of the screen.

The teacher may post many types of activity, including...

  • videos
  • presentations (PowerPoints, etc)
  • articles
  • exercises
  • worksheets
  • assignments
  • live webinars

The class teacher may use live webinar sessions for the whole class or small groups.

Once enabled by the teacher, entry to the virtual classroom's call will be through the Join meeting button.

The intention is for each child to work through each activity posted in their virtual classrooms each day. We ask that you support your child in this endeavour.

The platform includes a built-in messaging service through which you/your child and teachers can exchange messages about their work. Teachers can send messages to children. Children can send messages to teachers. The system is set up to the same safeguarding standards as if the children were in school.

We hope you and the children will enjoy this online learning experience!
